Top Tips to Improve Your Productivity

Productivity.
It’s the cornerstone of every successful business and the issue on every business owners’ mind. How do you improve it, maintain it, and encourage it in your employees? As a successful business, M.B. Secretarial Services has seen every productivity issue there is. Here are our top tips to help you improve yours.
- Set realistic goals. Use the first ten minutes of every working day to make a daily ‘to-do’ list. So it doesn’t overwhelm you, break the list down into Urgent, Essential and Non-essential categories. Allocate a realistic amount of time to each Urgent and Essential task. If the list still makes you feel anxious, break each task down into smaller components. You’ll be left with a very specific road map to follow throughout the day. Crossing each task off as you complete it will give you a sense of accomplishment, and before you know it you’ll have completed all your Urgent and Essential tasks, moving on to the Non-Essential tasks.
- Schedule breaks. Working through lunch is a bad idea for your well-being as well as productivity. Your health is essential for the success of your business and needs to be a constant priority. Allow room in your day – even including it in your ‘to do’ list if necessary – for lunch as well as short morning and afternoon breaks. Get away from your desk, go outside and enjoy the sun, take a short walk, or visit your favourite café to give your mind a break and get your body moving. You’ll be refreshed and energised and look forward to the rest of your tasks more.
- De-clutter your desk. Stop wasting valuable time (and money) searching for things. Whether your desk or the whole office needs attention, you can’t afford to ignore it for one second more. Take a step back and look at the area you use the most. Give yourself ten minutes to organise just one section of that area, then move on to the next section for another ten minutes.
- Outsource it! Stop wasting time and money on the tasks that don’t match your skill set, or don’t fit into your daily schedule. If you’re struggling to format a document, hand it over to a professional who’ll get the job done faster and more accurately. It’ll save you a lot of stress.
